My Journey Through the Ranks
Faruk Ajeti
Current Role Since 2021 — Ambassador
Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Germany and Denmark
In December 2021, I assumed the position of Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Germany, representing my country in one of Europe’s most influential diplomatic arenas. In this role, I work to deepen bilateral relations, promote Kosovo’s democratic achievements, and strengthen cooperation across political, cultural, and economic dimensions. I presented my credentials to the President of Germany, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, underscoring the strong partnership between our nations.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Early Professional Roles
- Media and Public Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo (2014)
Before fully entering the diplomatic mission in Austria, I served as a Senior Media Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo. In this capacity, I helped develop and communicate key policy messages, managed media relations, and supported press communications that amplified Kosovo’s voice internationally.
Leadership & Early Engagement
- President, Kosovar Association of Political Science Students (PSSA) (2004–2005)
My first leadership role was as President of the Kosovar Association of Political Science Students, where I organized academic events, represented student perspectives in wider forums, and cultivated early skills in public engagement and organizational leadership – an experience that continues to shape my approach to professional service and public communication.
Research and Academic Engagement
Research Fellow & Visiting Scholar (2019–2021)
Alongside diplomatic service, I engaged in significant academic research:
Visiting Scholar
As a Visiting Scholar at the Foreign Policy Institute, Johns Hopkins SAIS, Washington, D.C. through the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation.
Research Fellow
As a Research Fellow at the Austrian Institute for International Politics (oiip) in Vienna.
Counsellor
As a Counsellor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo in 2021, contributing policy analysis and diplomatic strategy.
These roles allowed me to combine academic rigor with diplomatic insight, contributing to scholarship on European foreign policy and regional cooperation.
Diplomacy in Practice - My Journey Through the Ranks
Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo - Austria (2014–2020)
I served at the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Austria across several diplomatic roles, gradually advancing my responsibilities and impact within the mission in Vienna:
First Secretary (2019–August 2020)
In this role, I engaged in political and diplomatic outreach, advanced bilateral cooperation, and supported cultural and economic relations between Kosovo and Austria.
Second Secretary (2016–2018)
I contributed to deepening institutional cooperation and represented Kosovo’s interests in a range of diplomatic discussions and policy initiatives.
Third Secretary (2014–2016)
My earliest role at the embassy provided foundational experience in consular services, diplomatic communications, and bilateral engagement.
Through these successive roles, I gained invaluable insight into diplomatic practice, strengthened Kosovo’s presence in central Europe, and built enduring relationships with diplomatic partners and host country stakeholders.
